Barbarossa released on Steam!

With quite some pride we can announce that DC:Barbarossa is now also available over at Steam. The version going on sale there is the latest v1.03(p) and includes the most recent new features and adjustments.

Keep in mind that if you already bought the matrix version of Barbarossa you can get your Steam copy for free by claiming your Steam Key for the game over here.

If you already spent some time playing the game it would be much appreciated if you’d take the time to leave a small review on Steam.

Best wishes,
Vic

First PBEM Advanced Tactics Lets Play!

There is a new Advanced Tactics Gold Lets Play series up on YouTube. Its the first Lets Play series (correct me if I am wrong) where an actual Play By Email game is shown in action. I am really happy seeing a PBEM YouTube since ATG really shines in multiplayer mode. Big thanks to TortugaPower.

Click here for the full play list of all the episodes.

Barbarossa is coming to Steam!

barabrossa on steamJust a quick update for those who missed the news. Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa is coming to Steam soon :) We aim to have release version 1.03 (p) rolled out at or before Steam release time.

Version 1.03 will bring a large list of fixes and improvements including improved map artwork and a 30.000 word personal War Diary from the perspective of a simple German private. Between Steam release and now do not expect a lot as Cameron is out of office with his family and I am in the middle of moving house.

Last but not least: a big thanks to all the players that have given feedback on the game and the public beta the last weeks; without you it would not be possible to keep getting the quality of the game up!

Best wishes,
Vic

Moving to VRdesigns.NET

Hi all! We have moved the VR website from .NL to .NET.
We also moved the Scenario Bank from advancedtactics.org to VRDesigns.NET.

It will be nice to have everything in the same place for once.

If you registered at the old .NL version of this site nothing has changed for you.

The old scenariobank (advancedtactics.org) is gone now and its functionality has been put in the Community pages of the site you are reading right now.
You can still claim your old data from advancedtactics.org by logging in/registering a new account here on VRDesigns.NET and then going to the Community Pages and clicking on ‘Claim’.

Feel free to ask questions. I am here to help.

Best wishes,
Vic

Management, People and Possibilities

Ideas are starting to firm up and coalesce for the next game. Or games as now that DC Barbarossa is out (we are both still working on new features for it), Vic is free to focus once again on Shadow Empires.

What I’d like to talk about here is how the coming game will portray people and the management there-off.

There are three basic approaches. The player as the person in charge (the ‘God’ model), the player working within a hierarchy of command (the ‘Superiors and Subordinates’ model) and the player as the recipient of orders from above (the ‘I am a minion’ model).
