3rd Party Scenario “Tannenbaum Blitz” arrives for Decisive Campaigns

I am happy to give some attention to this scenario that arrived today in the scenariobank. Congratulations and thanks to Mr Claus E. Füssel. He has created what looks like to be an excellent new scenario based on the hypothetical German invasion of Swiss. If you own DC: Warsaw To Paris you can download “The Tannenbaum Blitz” from the VR Designs Scenariobank.

If you like it please give some feedback over there or on the DC:WTP matrix forums.

The January development progress report

This month saw the new leader feature for Advanced Tactics Gold maturing. Beta patch ATG v2.14 has been released around end of January and this will very probably also become the next gold version. It seems the ATG leaders will soon be officially there!

Furthermore I decided together with Matrix Games to provide a bundled purchase option for both Decisive Campaigns games.

Ohh.. and Small General has been patched. (expect another small patch soon)

But most of the work this month went into the new mystery project. This project now officially has priority above all others.

I really try to make some time free to do some initial work on Decisive Campaigns 3, but it is proving hard to make the time. I will try harder though. The engine deserves a third installment. Hope to report some more progress here in the next months.

Small General games receive an update!

Yes we keep supporting our Android games! Small General has been updated to v1.3 and Small General : Eastern Front to v1.05. The improvements are mainly concerning layout on tablets and high-res (>480px by 800px) devices, but also fix an issue with the android software menu bar in the bottom of the screen on lower resolution devices (or when running in minimum-resolution mode set in prefs). Furthermore a number of new features from Eastern Front has been ported to the first Small General game including zooming in and out.

Never played Small General yet and have an Android tablet or phone? Load up the Google Play store and get it. Here are 2 extra pictures from the game running on the Nexus7 to get you motivated:

Grogheads strategic game of the year…

Did you like and appreciate Decisive Campaigns : Case Blue? If yes… please surf over to Grogheads.com to vote for our game. The Groghead awards seem to be one of the few actual consumer/reader awards around this year so it would be nice if Case Blue would do well. Thanks for your time guys! its appreciated :)

The December development progress report

This month saw the introduction of leaders to Advanced Tactics Gold with the release of the beta patch v2.12 (in the meantime already updated to v2.13). This month also saw the release of beta patch v1.05(c) for Decisive Campaigns : Case Blue. I think Case Blue is really stable now and if you haven’t got it yet you might want to jump in :)

Sadly I did not spent as much time on development this month as I’d like. The holiday season and the seasonal festivities (read: social life) really put a dent into the hours worked. However I did make some further progress on the “Mystery Project”. Its is slowly approaching a state where almost all core features are in and functioning. Soon i’ll have to flesh things out by adding more units, details and do some actual rules & balance fine-tuning in order to work towards a fully playable alpha version. I would really like to tell some more but this projects future is still not 100% sure so I am going to stay secretive for a little while longer. One thing I can say is that it is not an easy feat to develop a completely new engine from scratch. Another thing is that I think that if I get all my ideas and code together it will be quite an original game.

The majority of my time is invested in the new mystery project, but I hope to have at least 1 day a week available to work on ATG/DC patches and maybe even a new DC title. I am not sure yet, but I mentioned in the Case Blue forums that I am considering working on a new DC game doing Operation Barbarossa. For now don’t read this as a promise though, but as a wish. Time is something that is increasingly scarse.

I hope you all had a merry christmas and a good end of the year!

Best regards,
Vic

Return of the commanders to Advanced Tactics

Beta patch v2.12 has been made availble for Advanced Tactics. For the first time since People’s Tactics commanders make an appearance again in random games. This new feature will require a lot of testing and balancing, but I am confident that with help of all the AT players this will not be a big problem.
