Description:
The Roman Empire v1.31 This game simulates ancient era of the Roman Empire. Limited number of Roman Legions will fight against Barbarian hordes. The Roman player CAN buy more units, but only with PP (political points). This is important thing for balance reasons. Historically, there was only limited number of legions. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1805209 (Edited 14.1.2011).

6Fun to play AI. Human player would be tuff to beat for Rome. Barbarians can make new HQ/formations and Rome can't. Rome can play a one time action card that gives a new HQ with 3 formations when played. After that, Rome player has no military dispersal options. Might be a good idea to revise and allow Rome the ability to make formations only, at the cost of 10 PP per if possible, allowing for more inventive tactical play. Keep the automatic loss feature if a Rome HQ is lost. Cheers.

8Very well made scenario. It has deeper tactical touch than it looks at first. I've played this with my friend and the game was very challenging and there is many tactical options to choose from. I think it is good to have different "niche" for both Romans and Barbarians. I didin't have any problems with limited units with Romans. I can prefer this scenario for human vs. human games. Would be nice to have this for more than 2 players as well!

8This plays very well as Rome. Tough for the Barbs if Rome is cautious about opening up access for them by attacking an intervening neutral. Love to see it recast as Rome v Carthage (both with container constraints) with neutral Barbs lurking all around the edges, slowly being collected by the Germanics into an ever growing force, threatening eventual mayhem to both majors or immediate intervention if they get too distracted with each other.

8I enjoyed this but I do wish I could create a few garrison units or maybe a card that allows 2-3 garrisons. Its annoying having to go back and reconquer towns you have already taken.

8I really enjoyed playing this one. Went human to human, played as the barbarians, won twice, barely. Alliance cards are very important for the barbarians, if you can collect that many PP. Second game I captured Rome on an end around. Very satisfying. We give it two thumbs up! (Although I think barbarians should have divebombers...: )

8Nice scenario to play AI. Very nice historical feel. The restriction on unit creation forces you to really invent a good strategy to beat the AI. Might be nice to get some possibility to garrision occupied countries somehow.

6I only played this once but I did find it frustrating and annoying to find that I couldn't create any extra unit counters. Because I needed more units counters I have to get them from the other side of the map which then becomes neglected! And I am getting more infantry being stock piled in Rome because I do not have enough unit bases! Very frustrating. This puts me off that I would rather go back to other maps where I can create extra unit bases. Otherwise it would have been a good game.

6Yes lack of new formations is very tough for the Romans - perhaps they should be able to play the "New Legion" card more than once at a higher price for the subsequent time - eg 120pp?
