Snippet #10: Early frontline units
Almost forgot to show a snippet this month. Luckily I am just in time to avoid that from happening. I am still working on implementing the zone economies, research, organisations, stories and more. They all tie in together and its a bit of a development bottleneck. Hence here a snippet of some militia units advancing on neighboring raiders. In the early game your armed potential depends on your militia forces, which are semi-autonomous. Later on you’ll develop the infrastructure to raise, equip and design your own units.

Very very nice. I check in fairly frequently to get the latest on this game. I wish a starship/transport system could be implemented alongside this game to battle on various planets and transfer resources between planets. Just a thought. Your work looks great Vic. Regards.
The counter artwork gives nice flavor.
Hi Russ,
Thanks. And I hope to make SE a series that will eventually (not the first game) will go to the stars as well!
Best wishes,
Vic
Interesting comments, so a possible linked land-base game to a starship game? Coool. Would the individual games be linked/compatible together? Perhaps I pry too much.
“… possible linked land-base game to a starship game? … Would the individual games be linked/compatible together?”
This is a very good question.
Can I also ask about the “SMbat” units on the image. Their NATO symbols suggest that they are armoured infantry. Is that the case, or are they supply vehicles?
I have my hands more than full with Shadow Empire 1. So let’s finish that one first before going into details about any follow-ups. Expect a different planetary scale though for a game with dozens of planets compared to a game with only one planet.
@Cso,
That unit is a motorized infantry unit.
best wishes,
Vic
I am getting a strong Emperor of the Fading Suns vibe from Shadow Empire (especially if you made planet hopping a possibility), which is awesome. Have you played Emperor of the Fading Suns?
Hi Hogan,
I didn’t actually play it, but i did watch most LetsPlay video’s out there.
Hower Shadow Empire 1 will be planet bound. I hope to move it to multi-planetary after. But first things first.
Best, Vic
